Wow, what a gem. Love the pretzels, kaiser rolls, and all the selection of German food items.

This ones a hidden gem. My wife is German, so a place like this is heaven. Great fresh baked goods, authentic meats and all the candy you could ever need. If you are looking for authentic German items, then this is your place. Only downside is that it is seriously hidden, kind of hard to find.

The fresh bread is good, but the staff is extraordinarily rude. The first time I went in with a German friend, I mispronounced something and the staff started to make fun of me and asked my friend why they would bring someone like me there. Every time I have gone in by myself, I am scoffed at like I am not supposed to be there. I can go to other places and get better food with people who appreciate my business.

I've been coming here with my Oma since I was a little girl. The fresh breads and pretzels have always been a favorite. The staff is friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is cozy and you'll be hard pressed to find as many German deli meats, pickels, krauts, mustards, sauce mixes and gummies anywhere else.

This a great local German deli with the best pretzels and pretzel rolls. Nice selection of deli meats and cheeses. This is a great place to pick up picnic supplies on your way into the mountains.

Wow! The potato salad is amazing and the sandwiches are huge! Just like when I lived in Germany, you can get wonderful pretzel breads and sausages. Everyone there speaks German, too, and it is where the local Germans go to shop. You can get all sorts of cool things like Haribo, Ritter Sport, mustards, Spaetzle, etc. Wonderful. Sehr lecker und authentisch! Wuerstchen, Kartoffel Salat, Spaetzle, Senf, Brot, alles. Ganz perfect!

If you like real German bread/food this is your spot...

Went to Wimberger's yesterday with my friend (1st generation German) to explore. I loved that they tried to conform the exterior of the building to German architectural standards. They stuccoed the building to mimic the mortar used in all German buildings and even put in fake timbers, adorable! I also find the paintings, and scenes that adorns the facade of the store, terribly charming and very true to how architecture is embellished in many regions of Germany. We purchased Bretzeln, Brötchen, Berlinen and some Brat Wurst. The consistency of the rolls and pretzels was pretty good (considering how hard it must be to combine baking at high altitude with baking traditional German goods!). So not much to complain there. We knew we could not expect German quality. These are, after all, the States...the flour used is grown here, the water is also local...all things that affect the taste and organoleptic quality of food. Overall, this is a great addition to German food lovers. Most of their products are obviously 'boxed' items, many of which I can easily find for a lesser cost at military commissaries in the area (I understand that most people, however, may not be as lucky). There is only a small selection of fresh products (cheeses and cold cuts). I know that it's unrealistic to expect them to have as wide of a selection of fresh foods as you find in DE, however I could not help but feel a little twang of disappointment for not seeing more behind the glass cases ;) Some things are very well priced (12 plain broetchen for $3.49) and some others are pricier. My friend was especially excited to find elderberry blooms syrup, that we immediately put to good use when we got home as a Schorle ^__^ Overall, this will be a store that me and my friend will frequent often to get items that we could otherwise not find in regular grocery stores in the springs!

Best place to stock up on all the German fare that we miss! From semmels to gummy bears to Ritter Sport to currywurst ketchup. Love Wimberger's!

Defiantly a unique shop that you'll probably never just stumble upon. It's in a pretty residential neighborhood, but not far off of the Old Colorado City main drag. We tried a wide variety of breads; picking them from the various baskets around the store. They all tasted great, however they were rather stale. I suppose that's no real fault of the store, rather that we arrived at 1 or 2pm. I guess next time around I'll try to go in the morning.

Legit German bakery. Come early and often, pretzels sell out early. Everyone is friendly and answers questions. The only thing that would make this place better is if they served sandwiches. The apple streusel was ok but I did find a stem to an apple. So at least we know the apples are fresh and not from a can. I am going back for bread.

The soft pretzels are amazing! Everything else also meets high standards, but I'm a soft pretzels kind of girl. The hours are a bit strange, so check the schedule before making the drive.

Absolutely amazzzzzzing! Edelweiss gets all their bread products from here and I'm absolutely addicted now that I found out where they come from! So fresh!!

I absolutely love this little hole in the wall. Their gelbwurst is some of the best I've had in a long time. They will even order stuff the did not have on the shelf. Take home some of the fresh baked rolls and some of their cheese. I really enjoyed their plum cake. I will definitely continue to come.

We just love the Pretzel Rolls at Wimberger! There is NO PLACE else to get them in town except for Wimberger! Fresh daily! Not a big fan of most German cuisine (except for those pretzel rolls!!!!), but everything is fresh and clean in the entire store. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

Fresh bread in COS. Gotta love it. It is on the west side. Going for a hot pretzel, just need to pick up some mustard.

Fresh baked pretzels and a large, yummy selection of deli goods. I've been told to go early for the best selection but I've never managed and still get addicting-ly good meats and cheeses. My German relatives who live in Portland said Wimberger's has a better selection of German food than any shop in the Portland area. I wish they were open later in the day and I agree they aren't noticeable on the main drag, but they aren't out of the way by any means.

Delicious pastry. I guess they bake fresh every day. Decent selection of imported groceries (mustard, pickles, candy, canned stuff). The selection is bigger than the European section in the commissary, Cost Plus or WalMart anyway. I tend to go there for pastry and candy. Kinder Eggs and Milka! Yum. They also have a pretty good selection of Haribo gummis and Ritter Sport. This is the ONLY place my boyfriend could find the rum raisin Ritter Sport bar. Cost Plus never has it. Haven't tried any other baked goods yet, just pastry but the bread looks good. They have a pretty good sized deli/meat section too, with the skinny white brats that are my favorite.

Wimberger's is the bomb-diggity...well, as far as German bakeries go. You can get all sorts of German and European imports, great meats and cheeses, marzipan, and, of course, gnutella. Stop by on a Saturday morning to see the place packed full of German grannies sprechen the Deutsches and fighting for bread! They're not open on Sundays or Mondays though, which sucks.

If you like German bread, wurst and pastries as well a imported German goodies, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!
(5)Tim K.
Wimberger's is off the beaten path, but definitely worth the trip, if even for the baked goods alone. They have a full service deli, and a wide range of imported products you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else. My favorite thing Wimberger's sells: pretzel rolls! Imagine with me for a moment... You bite into a moist, and fluffy roll, but it tastes just like a jumbo pretzel you'd get at a ballgame (but even better because they haven't been under a heat lamp for God knows how long). Not even kidding. Salt on the top and everything. These pretzel rolls are perfect for sandwiches. Amazing!

Heading up to my uncles i had to stop and get some good vittles for a German breakfast the following morning. What makes this place is the pretzels. All the dogs in Colorado know they have the best. They sell them to another bakery up in the Denver area. There deli case is pretty good too, products turn over fast so always fresh. Only thing is it would be nice if they sold some good German beers too. But... it' Colorado.

Ambiance: This is a nicely appointed store located just south of Old Colorado City near the old Van Briggle Factory, off of Cimmaron. This is a deli/bakery with a decent selection of imported German food items. Service: Friendly with an accent. Food: Purchased a huge piece of homemade Apple Strudel that was delicious. Also bought some good-quality German bratwurst that made a nice addition to my supper at home. They also make a few deli sandwiches (Reubens and such) for take-away. Overall, a unique bakery/deli, with many imported items and cheeses and meats not found elsewhere in Colorado Springs. Also very good baked and pastry items. A keeper!

If you know me, you know my weakness is bread...OMG, Wimberger's has a plethora of delicious fresh baked rolls, pretzels, pizza, ham and cheese rolled up in...guess what, bread. Not only do they have an assortment of delicious fresh baked breads but they also have classic German deli meats, brats, sausages, etc. and if you like potatoes...you have to try the potato salad. Let me assure you, I am not a fan potato salad because I don't like the mayonnaise generally put in it, however, Wimberger's potato salad is laced with bites of bacon and made without the mayonnaise...it is to die for!!! You must go and you must try everything.

Soft fluffy rolls. Yummmmmmmmmm. Nuke the Kaiser rolls in the microwave for 10s and they're as good as straight out the oven. =) It's always really busy. Totally worth it. =) They're German so if you actually know the names of stuff and know how to pronounce them, then props to you.
